What is it about cats wanting to climb up high? I’m talking indoor cats, not the outdoor ones with claws that can climb trees and fences to hunt and escape predators. The Lady I rescued and I are dealing with lots of recent mischief from Rhette. From his attempts to destroy the Christmas tree, attacking the tree skirt, to climbing to places he’s never attempted before, I’m kept busy trying to keep him on the floor.
For example, one typical evening the Lady is watching TV with Rhette on her lap. That’s because he sleeps in her chair all day and the Lady has to fight for it in the evening. Not happy about sharing the chair, he starts looking around for trouble and decides he wants to jump up on the shelves over the lamp. Well, the Lady is having none of that because of his size and the valuable treasures from her travels on the shelves. There’s a nice warm radiator cover on the other side of the shelves. The Lady hopes that’s where he’s trying to go so she picks him up and plops him down on the toasty surface. He wants none of that and jumps on the shelf to explore anyway.
It wasn’t long, after rescuing some valuables in peril, that the Lady noticed the lamp from below highlighting Rhette’s face. After quickly grabbing her iPhone and snapping some closeups she realized the real shot is with his shadow on the ceiling. The Lady is pretty impressed with the quality of photos from her phone in limited lighting. Some times you never know what you’ll capture so it’s not much of a gamble to take as many shots as possible when you can delete them later.
For now Rhette is happy spending his days on warm radiators or the Lady’s TV chair, hopefully he won’t attempt any more new high places. Despite his recent mischievous behavior, the Lady still feels that a home during the holidays is much more cozy sharing with a cat.
