Hopefully by now you’ve had a chance to check out the Lady I rescued’s highlights from Global Pet Expo 2017. In it we dropped a hint about one of the pet industry trends we saw at this year’s show. The dog momz Jan from Wag ‘n Woof pets guessed correctly, ways to keep dogs cool!
Last year’s show was all about celebrity endorsements which we didn’t see much of this year. This year the top two trends the Lady noticed were:
- Pet cooling products
- Licensed merchandise
Pet Industry Trends — Pet Cooling Products
The Lady lost count of how many various cooling products she saw, there’s a product for just about any pet parent’s need. To not overload you we are only including those that we could provide a web site to. Also, those in the New Product Showcase will be covered separately as they might not be available yet. Here’s a rundown on what you can find in the market now.
BH Pet Gear AKC Summer Essentials and Dri-Tail™ Cooling Mat
American Kennel Club (AKC) Summer Essentials is BH Pet Gear’s newest collection launched this year at Global. This innovative line includes the AKC Cooling Vest, AKC Life Vest, AKC Cooling Towel and the Dri-Tail Cooling Mat.
Trilanco, the UK’s largest animal health and equine products wholesaler, has their Easidri cooling mat and coat.
Scruffs® Pet Products
Scruffs Cool Dog Mat is designed to provide relief for your pet. It’s filled with a non-toxic gel that keeps the self-cooling mat typically 5-10 degrees cooler than room temperature.
Gen7Pets™ Cool-Air Cot®
Gen7Pets Cool-Air Cot pet bed is one of the few cooling pet products seen that is made for outdoor use such as camping, on your backyard deck, or more.
K&H™ Pet Products Cool Bed III™
The Cool Bed III can be used indoors and out. It uses a liquid for its cooling and has a tough exterior surface
Pet Industry Trends — Licensed Merchandise
Licensed merchandise for pets is not really new. But, there are several new licensed product lines at this year’s Global, so we’ve got you covered. This is what we found:
Petmate® WWE® Pet Collection
The popular WWE Pet Collection is back again this year which shows the success of licensed merchandise for pets.
BH Pet Gear’s Emoji Nation®
BH Pet locked in the licensing to the emoji craze with a fun and whimsical collection of pet toys and beds.
Grumpy Cat has his own line of branded licensed merchandise available at PetSmart.
Rubies Pet Shop Boutique
Rubies Pet Shop seems to have the lock on numerous licensed merchandise, including DC Comics, for pet Halloween costumes.
Urban Paw Pet Products
Urban Paw has licensing to Disney and Spiderman for their plush and comfortable dog beds. Products pictured are not on their web site though.
Professional sports are a favorite licensed product for pet parents. What better way to show your team support if not by your dog’s collar or bandana? The Lady loved the Cubs hoodie, I hope she doesn’t get any ideas about me wearing one. Professional sports merchandise can be found at most pet retailers and online.
If you made it this far I hope you enjoyed our “coolest” trends in the pet industry!
