The Lady I rescued found the Real Dog Moms of Chicago strictly by accident on Instagram one day. It surprised both of them for not having found each other before. The Lady instantly signed up for their next event, “Santa Paws is Coming to Town” on December 10th. Remembering my first encounter with Santa Clause, the Lady stayed optimistic while attempting to make me look festive for the outing, while secretly hoping for finally a picture of me and her with Santa!
Santa Paws is Coming to Town took place at Bitter Pops, a Lakeview neighborhood establishment on the north side of Chicago with the finest selection of American Craft beer, International beer, Ciders, Mead and Craft Spirits. The Real Dog Moms partnered with Mutt Jackson, and Peaches Pets to benefit Peace for Pits, a Chicagoland Pitbull rescue. It cost the Lady $20 for us to attend which included a beverage in the tasting room, pictures with Santa, a Polaroid (remember those?) keepsake and a donation to Peace for Pits. A pretty good deal right?
The Real Dog Moms of Chicago are all about bringing together people and pets for good, and fun. Since their launch in April 2017, the Real Dog Moms of Chicago, Lindy and Jessica, raised over $8600 for Chicago animal shelters. They do this through hosting monthly events for just dog moms and for dogs and their moms.
Their first fundraiser, the 2017 Chicago PAWS walk, with just 20 dog moms raised almost $3,000 in one month. Followed by the charity calendar contest on Instagram selecting 16 local dogs for a photograph in a 2018 calendar to raise money for the Trio Animal Foundation. Their goal is to continually raise money for local shelters through events.
We had a good time meeting all the other dogs attending wearing their festive holiday attire. Personally, I would put most of the dogs on the Naughty List, as they got a little bit unruly for me. And I’m all about proper doggie manners you know. Now the Lady knows that I’m not the only dog not thrilled to have their picture taken with Santa!
Santa and Mrs. Paws were great with all the dogs, they didn’t mind the jumping or the licking at all and were willing to do anything to help make a good photo. You could take the picture with just the dog and Santa or with the pet parents and the dog. The photographers took as many takes as needed to get a good one too, not to mention lots of treats! They even gave us a retake so that we have a keepsake of the Lady and me with Santa and Mrs. Paws. I know I’m a bit difficult when it comes to photos and I didn’t let anyone down at the event for sure.
The Lady and I want to greatly thank the Real Dog Moms of Chicago for putting on such a fun event. We can’t wait until the next one!
